To be honest, I don’t know what my dream job is. I’ve never had a clear idea of exactly what job I wanted to have in the future, I just know what interests me and what I’m good at and have gone with those opportunities.

I always want to learn new things and try out different roles to see what work I best enjoy. My job gives me the chance to do that and I love my work so maybe that’s enough to count as a dream job?

I still haven’t decided yet what I want to be when I grow up or what my dream job is! That’s why I’m an engineer. It gives me the flexibility to be able to change roles and subjects whilst still using the same skills and developing new ones. That’s how I’ve managed to work underground as a miner, on oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico, in car and truck factories and design studios around the world, and now as a university Professor, teaching others about engineering. Who knows what I might be doing in another 5 years time.

I’m on my way to getting one, I just need more experience. I’m currently a research engineer but my dream job would be being a technical specialist for the area I’m working in. All I need to do is keep doing my job for the next few years.
