Write it down! My memory is terrible haha. Also I find that writing it down makes it clearer in my head – very useful before attempting to explain it to the rest of the team.

I have a list of ideas I come up with on my phone. I usually get ideas just before I am about to fall asleep so I need to write stuff down or I would forget by morning

My answer is exactly the same as Kirstin, I would write it down before I forget it. Don’t know if that is because all engineers have bad memories, or whether we just think about so many things at once that we get easily distracted. It means that my desk gets littered with little yellow sticky notes with all sorts of wild ideas on them. It’s really interesting going through them later to see if they make sense.
