      Hi 444amph45,

This is a very difficult question as I don’t really know what the definition of success is. So far, I feel like I’ve been successful in what I’ve done so far. However, I’m still very young and early in my career to feel like I am a successful engineer or that I’ve had a successful career. In the meantime, I’ll keep working hard and enjoying the ride!

      It depends what success is.

In the last few years I’ve started to feel “successful” as I have more responsibility and I’m able to change bigger and better things. I can see the changes I make out in the real world and also get praise for it.

However, a lot of Engineering is being part of a team. Even when you are only just starting you are part of the team and enjoy the team’s success.

      Hi 444amph45 ,

It has taken me awhile to decide to combine my teaching and engineering skills so only really working on this over the last 12 years or so. The benchmark for ‘success’ is hard to quantify however I feel I am gaining reputation in my field and ‘success’ will eventually come from that.
