      Hi Herbie,

When thinking about inventions, it is hard to tell which one is my favourite as probably about 99% of the inventions are a consequence of previous inventions and it would’ve been impossible to invent them without those previous ones.

However, if I have to choose an invention, I’d choose the integrated circuit (electronics). The amount of things we have been able to do since the integrated circuit was invented is just impressive. Computers went from being as big as a whole basement to laptop size. Phones, GPS, 3D printers, tablets, cars, airplanes, boats, etc., they all use microprocessors and integrated circuits. Think about what other things may use microprocessors/integrated circuits and think about how big they would be if these tiny circuits didn’t exist.

      Tough question!

Solar power has to be up there as it can benefit everyone (apart from those at the poles over winter!)

I think it is hard to say one invention. I think the Integrated Circuit is amazing and has built the world we see around it. However that needed the transistor to be invented. There is a series of inventions going all the way back to fire which is what turned us into humans!
