Hi jnorth001
To make electronic devices you need to decide how far you want to go with that thought
best way is via an apprenticeship, as you cover a lot of the skills required via your learning pathway.
– just fitting parts on to a circuit board can be easy, just need to be able to read + understand, so fairly basic skills. – you could do that today –
To design something… now you’re looking a decent GCSE’s / A-levels for simple projects, or Uni for the more fun stuff.
AND you’ll need some mechanical skills or awareness, so your device can be fitted into a box, or is ergonomically designed to make it easy to use, and easilly saleable.
I have 9 GCSE’s all A-C grades, a BTEC ONC, and am studying for a BTEC HNC, so the learning never stops.
If you go into a really special form of electronics, you may learn on the job, as that’s a really good way of learning.
