I can’t think of one particular situation, but yeah there have been plenty of times when I’ve felt like giving up! In a job like mine people often get what we call ‘imposter syndrome’ – where you feel like you aren’t skilled or clever enough to be there. What helps me get over that is to remind myself that I am where I am because I worked really hard for it – always helps.

Almost in every task I find something very difficult to achieve, but I do not give up. I look for easier ways out if I feel that I am stuck. This way I am always exploring and finding something new and exciting

I used to work with a very difficult colleague and I found it very frustrating and it made me want to give up. Luckily I was able to switch to doing research in Birmingham where I am now.

Yes sometimes your work is going nowhere, you’re super busy and your boss is being difficult :). I’ve been there many times though and there’s always a solution and once you work it out it’s s great feeling! I try to remember the motivation of why I chose to do what I do.
