I have always liked technology and learning how things work but I didn’t decide I wanted to be an engineer until I was thinking about going to uni. I wanted a job where I could make things and be inventive and engineering seemed like a perfect fit for me!
Hi Dan,
I did an engineering project while at sixth form and it made me realise that I wanted to do engineering at University. While at University I was shown what engineers can do in their jobs and decided to get a job as a medical engineer.
I was in 6th form and loved maths and my teachers knew I was a creative person and told me to look into it. and by random chance, I found medical engineering which combines the root I wanted to take in life of helping people.
I always thought I was an engineer, but the time that stuck in my memory was a Christmas evening when I was 9. I was sitting on the floor and thinking that I should become an engineer while I was opening up my gifts 🙂
I probably decided to be an engineer at the end of my GCSEs. I initially wanted to be a doctor but released I needed to do chemistry, which I wasn’t great at. Also wasn’t too keen on spending 10 years in further education. Still really liked biology though, so decided to push forward with bio-engineering; where I could work on devices that interfaced with the human body.
