I was 31 years old when I finished my PhD. It took me around 5 years, but I took a break for around 9 months to work on a different but related project.
I don’t have one yet. If I think it is going to be useful or interesting, then I might start one after I finished my degree which might be in 2 or 3 years.
I started my PhD when I was almost 27 years old, in 2012. I am still doing my PhD which is expected to finish next year, although next year it will probably be “only” performing an exam, improving the thesis based on the comments of the examiners and attending the graduation ceremony. Normally a PhD in this Country takes 3 years full-time (+1 year to write your results in a thesis, most of people need that too) or up to 6 years (+1 year) part-time. I took longer than usual but I don’t consider this common practice
