As part of my job of engineer, I am building, together with a few more fellow engineer, a new sorting machine which is able to detect bacterias and garbage (e.g. stones, branches etc.) in all sorts of different foods: nuts, rice, chocolate, frozen vegetables…. It will be able also to differentiate different plastics from one another for a recycling plant and the workers will be able to monitor and control it from their computer at home or using a mobile or tablet anywhere they are. The work required to finish this machine is enormous and I am doing only a little part: turning lights and motors on and off and configuring the sensors for separating good food from bad one in response to an internet request.
As my independent work in my PhD I plan to create the idea for a whole system that would allow a robot to grasp anything it is available to use it for a purpose (which at the moment is using the thing as a hammer)
