• Question: what is your best project and why.

      The project that I enjoyed the most was a “top-secret” research project whose purpose was to explore new sensors for our machines that would allow them to detect things like mould, nasty bacteria (that can make you feel vomiting and such) impurities in plastic that prevent recycling and it can warn the owner of machine that all this is happening in his plant. The project is top-secret because my employer is putting a lot of effort in it, and out there is full of people who like to copy so I can’t go in much more detail.

      I liked it because it can be very useful for people, some of this bacteria are striking in a way difficult to find and control and can make people sick, so it was definitively for a good cause. Another reason why I liked it is that most of the technical tools we were using (software & hardware) were all new for the company and there was a lot of research and exploration involved, other than the usual design & develop. I guess that fact that I was managing most of the technical part of it also played a role

      I think the best project is the one I am working on right now and that is probably because I have a say in which direction the software is going. That makes it just so much more enjoyable. We get to explore so many more options and directions.
      I did work at similar projects before, but eventually your bosses bosses tell you where to go next and that has usually to do with money and nothing with how well it is going or what might be best for clients. That can be super frustrating.

      I think my PhD is my best project. It is like my little baby! I studied and worked so hard on it for 4 years and put all my heart and passion on it.
      Basically it is a brand new system that you can use to describe how people need to work together to achieve something. It’s like drawing diagrams of recipes that people need to follow. It then uses mathematics to get rid of errors and mistakes automatically. I have used this system in other projects, particularly to help organise the way doctors work together to treat patients. The system makes sure they don’t forget things along the way and provide the best possible treatment.

      My current project on helping old people get dressed using robots is my best project! It’s interesting, I get to code and ultimately help people who really need it.
