      Hi

I like my job because not one day is like the other. Every day I will pick and chose what I will work on. I can work from home or back in Germany when I visit my family. I meet a lot of interesting people and can attend events or conferences (For example, a week ago I went to Cardiff for a coding workshop, tomorrow I am going to a conference in Bristo). Working for a startup also means, I am involved in a lot of decisions about how the company is going to develop, figuring out what we want to be when we grow up.
To be fair, not everybody likes that. Some people just like stability and want to know exactly how and what they are supposed to do and when. Clearly, I am not one of them and that is fine. One of the things of growing up is finding out what works best for you.

As Fran said, variety is key for me. I love the evolution of a project as it progresses. I like learning new skills, discovering new software to help me or getting to try out new hardware. I recently tried an EEG device which reads the brain waves from your head! We are thinking of using this for a way to interface with robots and computers.

I like 3 things about my job:
      1) I get to build new things with new technology all the time. It’s a very creative process, like expressing yourself with painting or making music. I also learn and see so many cool things!
      2) I get to work with very smart people! Working with such great people is amazing because you can accomplish so much so fast! You can also learn so much from smarter people and become better yourself. There is a saying “if you think you are the smartest person in the room, you are in the wrong room”.
      3) I get to help other people with what they do. The programs I write are useful to other people to improve they way they work or live their lives. This is very rewarding!
