  Waste water can, theoretically, be converted back into drinking water. It would be very hard to convince people that it is safe though!
  
  A lot of waste can be turned back to its original form – metals and plastics for instance. Sometimes it is easier and more cost-effective to re-use waste (or turn it into a product) rather than try and get it back to its original state.
