      Hi Robyn

Good question… Lots of people are mistaken and thing you have to have a degree to be an engineer. But there are lots of routes into engineering. Apprenticeships is a great way of getting practical experience and learning by doing.

Its one route in, but its not the only route in! You can do courses at colleges, or apply for apprenticeships with companies who take you on and you learn while you work (and you get paid at the same time!).
I could be where I am with an appreticeship and I wish I’d known more about it when I made my career decisions as it would have been a great option for me!

      Hi Robyn,

You don’t have to go to Uni. I did like a lot of my colleagues but I think doing an Apprenticeship is a very good alternative if you don’t fancy going to uni.

Remember you can always go to Uni later in life and even get your employer to pay for it!

      Hi,
There are plenty of routes into engineering. Apprenticeships and college courses are alternatives if you want to take a different route from university. Many employers will allow you to take training throughout your career to develop new skills.
