Definitely not. Being an engineer is all about learning as you go along. One of my favourite quotes is by Albert Einstein:

“The problems that exist in the world today cannot be solved by the level of thinking that created them.”

That means that we continually need to think of new ways to solve to the challenges we face today. This is one of the things I love most about engineering – applying new science ideas to the real problems in the world.

      Good question Chris.

Most things in life are a learning process, and with more time and practice you get better at them, be it your job, a sport or a skill. Some people are naturally better at things then others, but with hard work and the right training – I think anyone can do pretty much anything 🙂

I’ve always been good at maths but when you need to apply it to real life it gets really challenging.

I’m always learning on the job, even the most senior of our engineers continue to learn.

Nope! I am always learning, I have to practice my maths and physics and I still have to read about new ways of designing things. I’d get bored if I knew everything from the beginning!

I’m reasonably good at organising my time but things like maths don’t come particularly easy so I’m constantly working on this – like everyone else too it seems!
I do love that I’m always learning – I don’t think the job would be as exciting if I was good at everything to start with!
