I was working at a sewage works in Manchester once and saw a plume of yellow smoke coming from an area of the site. Soon after I saw the smoke there was a loud bang and big clouds of black smoke! A piece of gas clean up equipment had exploded. It was only a small piece of kit, I was shocked at the smoke it created.
Not an electrical shock if that’s what you mean! I can’t think of a time when I had the other kind of shock either, but I do remember being scared at the top of the Shard before the glass had gone in 🙂
I’ve worked as part of an incident team during the floodings in 2007 (I think it was that year!)
What was a massive shock was how high the waters had got and how quickly – we were getting messages from site and had to make quick operational decisions about how to keep the lights on (so a slightly different job than I have now!) – very exciting stuff tho!
Yes – the biggest shock I ever had was when we set fire to the christmas tree that was in my flat. I knew it would burn but the speed was very alarming! There is a picture of the burning tree on my profile page.
I have another picture on that page that shows what happens when burning poop goes wrong!
These always give me a bit of a shock but we take a lot of care to make sure things are safe.
