• Question: why did you decide to do this job

      Hi Chris,

      I ended up doing this job out of pure chance. I applied for it because I was bored during my Christmas holidays so it gave me something to do…I didn’t even look at where the job was based!

      I wanted to work in engine design originally but I graduated during the recession and all the engine manufacturers stopped recruiting. My attitude then was that I needed a job no matter what.

      Hi Chris

      I took two subjects at university that inspired me into an energy career. These were renewable energy and energy management. I didnt know companies like Sainsburys and Debenhams were interested in energy saving until i realise just how much it costed them.. Debenhams spend over £35million each year to light and heat their stores! Thats alot of money!

      Hi Chris

      I’d been in my previous job for a few years and wanted a new change and challenge. This job came up on our job board and I spoke to the manager and some colleagues about what they thought it would be like.
      I heard that the job was pretty flexible but would definately be challengeing and would be working with lots of different companies not just National Grid – so I went for it!

      I wanted to build and make real things that people can use! So I studied engineering and have been working at WSP for nearly 9 years now, and I love it.

      When I graduated University I was not sure what to do. I knew I liked woking on ad developing new ideas. That is why I went into research.

      I love working on the cutting edge and trying new ideas in the laboratory before they are used in practice. There is a lot of new things to discover to help us build safer cities and I find it really exciting to be part of that process.
