To keep this brief as possible :). I graduated with a bachelor degree in electronics and telecom. engineering. Shortly after graduation I started working on some projects helping out some friends (not related to my major) but it helped me understand little by little how the market moves and I gained some good experience. I did some work as sales engineer after, and some field work (where you get to visit customers at their sites to help them fix whatever issues they’re having with the product your company supports).
After that I joined one of the biggest companies in the world IBM and was very thrilled about it :D. Now I work as a network engineer, basically I fix issues that are related to networks. One of my company’s biggest products are servers (super computers) and as the ordinary computer that we all have at home they all need to be hocked up to the network (be it the web or a connection to other servers) and my main job is to fix whatever issues our customers face. I work in a global team from different countries which is one of the best things that I love about my job.

My typical day at work can be broken down to couple of things. I start my day with my morning coffee, checking my email, my schedule for the day and following up on updates.
I then try and squeeze in couple of tech. related articles for a good read. Then I get on with helping our customers resolving their issues.
Checking their issue (contacting them and discussing the situation) and trying to resolve it. Whether its a new installation or an existing one.
Sometimes I deliver some training sessions for new comers.

Tell us a joke.
Most people believe that if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Engineers believe that if it ain’t broke, it doesn’t have enough features yet.
