Yes. I gained a lot of knowledge about engineering whilst at university which is very helpful to me now. However, it’s just as important to have transferrable skills as an engineer (e.g. teamwork, communication). In the workplace, engineers have to work in teams to solve large problems, so it’s important to be able to work with others as well as having technical knowledge.
I don’t know if this really falls under skills but being stubborn/ having perseverance. There’s a lot of challenges you have to sort of just power through. I also had to send in quite a few applications and attend many interviews before I was successful.
