  I can guess how a Go Pro works, based on how RAL Space’s work. But Go Pros will have their own special quirks different to what I’m used to. For example, Go Pros are made to be compact and easy to hold, whereas space cameras don’t need to be (nobody needs to hold them, they are instead usually boxes attached to a satellite). Plus, because I’m an electronics engineer I can tell you more about the electronics, compared to the mechanical and optical (e.g. lens) design. As is usually the case in engineering, projects need a team of specialists with different backgrounds to work together.
