      I think it can affect you from those who aren’t engineers. They seem more surprised when you say you are an engineer but I am not treated differently with those I work with. I think it’s advantageous being a woman in engineering because you bring different perspectives – at least I like to think I’m more organized than some of the men in my team and they appreciate that I schedule team meetings and often hold workshops rather than working alone.

      In my day to day work and life no one has treated me like I’m less capable as a woman. There are people out there who think that so you feel you need to prove yourself a bit sometimes.

      There are small challenges though, sometimes you’re aware of how few women are in the room with you or maybe you’re the only one. Some people are immature and will make comments about your relationship with a male colleague.
      These are all small but can add up but 99% of my colleagues are amazing and I’m rarely aware I’m a minority in the workplace.
