Hi Lauren :). The simple answer is… EXCITED!! It’s a really good feeling when you start something new and you don’t really know what’s going on and you have to work it all out and talk to new people.
I love starting a new project, there is so much to learn and so much to do! It can be a bit mental at first, when there is so much data you have to understand and so many methods you have to learn, as well as understanding the constraints within a system, but once you get your head into it, its great!
I guess its a bit like starting high school, everything is new and there is so much to learn, but you get used to it and you soon learn all about it! 🙂
This is definitely a thrill! There are so many possibilities at the beginning of a new project. You know it’ll be a whole lot of work – but you also know it’ll be worth it. In fact every stage of a project can be a lot of fun! Everything from the planning stage, the creativity, the research, even the calculations/modelling bring new challenges, learning – it’s a very satisfying process
I have mixed emotions ranging from excitement to nervousness. My latest project is to research new virtual reality tools that will be used to design wind farms. I’ll have a new PhD student joining the team in September. 10 minutes ago, I sent them an offer letter!
Hi Lauren. I feel excited when doing a new project and full of ideas, so much that I find it hard to finish off older jobs that have lost their sparkle!
