Solving problems and improvising! There’s always more than one way to solve things. When things go wrong, I investigate why and try to find solutions rather than giving up.

So my sister thinks that I should be able to fix her car – because I am a Mechanical Engineer; I can’t! But it would be nice if I could 🙂

I think I have learned how to work with people with different professions. It is important to understand what they want and to communicate effectively.

Engineering involves compromising the “perfection” of design with the “practicality” of building the machine or structure; weighing up the risks, the costs and the consequences of different design choices. I’ve not thought about this before, but there is a close link between engineering skills and life skills.
