It is the only invention that gives all the people of the world freedom of access to information and the freedom to communicate with any other person on the planet. Anybody can use the internet, regardless of their gender, race, age, wealth, social status, or nationality. On the internet, everybody is equal.

Bicycle! I really enjoy cycling, it’s so much quicker and more efficient than walking. I’m about to go over to my friend’s house on my bike :).

It’s got to be the steam engine. Not just because it was the trigger of the industrial revolution but because of the incredible level of invention that had to be combined with a thorough knowledge and understanding of fluids and thermodynamics. In engineering we often discuss and aspire to develop a “step-change” or “disruptive” technology – this was one of the biggest!
