      Hi Baby Blue,

That’s a good question! I think I was fascinated by aircraft/flight and I suppose the most obvious way (to me at the time) to get involved in that industry was to become a pilot. I guess that leads on to another question though: What changed my mind? Why am I not a pilot now? And that’s much easier to answer – I realised that it was the technology that fascinated me and, to get involved with the technology, I needed to become an engineer. I prefer to design/test things like aircraft than flying aircraft. For a similar reason, I like Formula 1 because of the innovative technology – it’s a real team sport with all the engineers working throughout the year to develop a car. The race and the drivers are a smaller part of the whole competition….

…perhaps I’m getting off track (pardon the pun) now…and don’t get me wrong, if ever I had a chance to fly a plane (or drive an F1 car), I’d jump at it. Can’t see anyone letting me any time soon though 🙂

You’ve used “career” as one of your keywords – so if this is something you are considering as a career, don’t let me put you off – just be sure you know why you are interested in it!

      Good luck!

      Tadhg
