Hey Kirsty, this is a really interesting question, thank you! It’s slightly weird being a female engineer in today’s society. We are at a very strange point where the number of female engineers is increasing but there are still people who have very old-fashioned ideas about what a woman can do working at the same company. The majority of people I work with are very supporting of my chosen career (although there is still the occasional inappropriate comment) and I am lucky to have a line manager who believes in me (I’m not sure he’s even noticed I am female tbh).
I hope you never encounter anyone who puts you down because of your gender, and if you do, I hope you get to rub your success in their face!
