      Yes, there are engineering competitions. Check out the young engineers competitions is for 7-19 year olds, https://www.youngeng.org.uk/members/competitions/.

      I don’t know too much about them, but keep your eye open for events if you have a great idea that you want to develop and share with the world! Once you get to university age, there are several design competitions. Most of the ones I’ve heard of focus on sustainable or low-cost solutions to real world problems, and the reward is funding to turn your idea into a start-up company! In the UK, ingenuity and creativity is encouraged thus there is quite a bit of money being put into this sort of thing.
