Question: do you think cricket players should wear better helmets

Hi Robbie,
Good question – there has unfortunately been a few serious injuries in cricket recently. In the last place that I worked, we worked very closely with cricket helmet makers to improve the safety of their helmets – we put their helmets through lots of tests, including firing balls through air cannons to make sure that the ball couldn’t get through the gap between the peak and the grill to hit the face. Another test we did was to drop them from a height and measure the force of impact. At the moment, I know they are doing more work to try and improve the protection of the batter’s neck.
