  Interesting question! Quite often it will be down to what the player is most comfortable with! This might depend on the surface they’re playing on, such as grass or artificial, and what the weather conditions are. Some kits might be designed specifically with a particular layering combination in mind for the best performance, but I don’t think anyone has done this really well yet!
