      Hi Darylg

      I will give it my best shot at answering this but you may want to ask either Louise or Naomi this one as they work with the spine and I’m a hip girl 🙂

      But from what I understand you have bony parts called the called the vertebra which protects the spine. This has a hole in the back where your spinal cord runs through (so if you run your hand down your spine you can feel all your vertebrae. In between each vertebra is a squidgy material called the disk (you may have heard of someone having a slipped disk). This allows the spine to bend by squishing together, although is it is squeezed too much it can push on the spinal cord at the back and cause a lot of pain. You have lots of vertebrae that make up the spine which allows you to bend a lot as all the disks squish together.
