There are many ways engineering can save our planet:
1. Increasing the efficiency of current processes to use less power.
2. Engineering new materials and sustainable materials to reduce our carbon footprint.
3. Reverse engineering some of the processes in nature might allow us to learn how the planet does things in balance with the rest of the eco system.
I think the list is quite extensive and could carry on. It’s only the last few decades that we’ve started to think about our planet and it’s still early days in terms of research and development.
The best way for engineering to save the planet is to increase the efficiency and use of renewable energy sources. Earth doesn’t have that many fossil fuels left and the amount we are using is playing a part in global warming (also the meat industry)
Also, as Alex said engineering new sustainable materials, so we can recycle and reuse more.
I think engineering will save the planet when EVERYONE realises that they can help solve our problems together.
Really, engineering is problem solving and everyone can do that on some level.
We need to work together to use more renewable energy, stop global warming and everything else the other engineers are saying.
Engineering is the only way! It can increase efficiency by improving how we obtain and use energy, a good example is changing the way we transport ourselves. So get working on a way to teleport!
Reduce the use of fossil fuels through wind turbines, tide and wave device as well as power cells on your roof and electric cars. Lots of ways really.😊
In my opinion, engineering is really just problem-solving. Finding a creative, efficient, sustainable solutions to any problem. And I think engineering can help solve a lot of worlds big problems, including climate change.
