By doing things like this! The lab I work in often hosts visits from people of all ages, including work experience students. Between the people in our lab we engage with people in a variety of ways like visiting schools, giving public talks, and we recently had a stand at a big event called new scientist live showing of the different research and engineering.

      Indeed, things like this.
I’ve also given public talks, run workshops for a range of different audiences (adults, families, schoolgroups,….). I also sometimes write about my work on a blog. …

yeah things like this. I’m involved in quite a lot of outreach in schools around Nottingham and also Pint of Science. It’s super important to get the public engaged with your research because as the taxpayers a lot of their money is spent on our research. Also, got to inspire the next generation of engineers

Yup, as said below by volunteering and I’m starting a podcast soon with some friends to showcase some of the science done here at Nottingham. Sometimes just tweeting about things I’m doing!
