If my way of detecting brain activity works then I would love to see it be used for preclinical testing of new drugs (before human or animal trials) or as a way of modelling how diseases that affect the brain like Alzheimers develop and find ways of treating them.

I hope my research will help both biologists and clinical doctors in the long run. If we can better understand how cancer starts and what the changes are that occur during cancer, we can find better ways to detect cancer. Earlier detection means earlier treatment, and a better chance of curing it. I also hope it will help us develop better ways of treating cancer, and eventually also find a way to completely prevent cancer from starting in the first place.

My research aims to help people with bladder problems after they have damaged their nervous system. I’m looking at new devices able to control the bladder by stimulating the nervous system, to give people more control. Fun!

My coatings should reduce the chances of people getting infections after major surgeries, which will help people get back to their lives quicker and with less pain.
