In the short term, it’s about creating better tools for fundamental biology. This means that I’m trying to help biologists study the things happening in cells and tissue better, so we can understand what is going to when cancer starts and develops.
In the long term, some of the techniques I’m working on can hopefully be adapted for medical use. For example, create a better tool for detecting really early cancer. And (following on the first point), if we understand something better, we can treat it better.
So it’s all a little bit vague and far in the future, but I’m hoping some of the tools and techniques I have developed will help researchers understand, detect, and treat cancer better.
