      My HND in Computer Automation and Networking covered a lot of bases, including maths for graphics, and electronics – so it put me in a good place to apply to a wide variety of software engineering jobs.

      I went the academic route and did gcses, a-levels, a degree and a doctorate. It all depends on the kind of engineer you want to be. Different routes are better for different types of engineering.

      Like Rain I went the academic route and did GCSEs, A-Levels & a degree, the diploma wasn’t offered when I was at college!
