Yes, not very often though, usually it is when deadlines are closing in, and we start to panic a bit. But it is positive stress – the kind of stress that makes us produce better stuff, the pressure that really gets the brain going!
Sometimes it does. If I have a big presentation for a job or some difficult internal matters to deal with. I try to space things out and not let things all heap up into a crisis. A deadline is sometimes good for focussing the mind. You tend to blank out trivia rather than try to deal with everything.
Yes – we often have deadlines for delivering instruments that seem unbelievable and a few of us have pulled all-nighters occasionally, but that tends to be rare.
There is always too much work, not enough money, not enough people to do it. But with a good team, you can succeed regardless and have a good time doing it too.
I don’t think it is stress I am just keen to get the job done properly and that can make me a bit wound up at times. I seem to be able to channel it into getting things done productively, however, so I don’t see it as a negative.
