  Do you mean the CGI side or the practical side?
  
  For CGI I would aim for Computer Science qualifications, and then get experience with the BBC effects teams (just write to them and ask) or maybe with a games development company. You can either get vocational qualifications (work and study at the same time) or go straight for a degree and see if that makes you more attractive to special effects companies.
