I currently work for Ford Motor Company as a Cooling Systems Engineer, this means that I work with suppliers to design and develop the systems in a vehicle that keep the engine from overheating. Some of the components within the system include the car radiator, the fan, coolant, hoses and pumps.

The thing I like best about my job is that I work on a global program and so I spend much of my day on the phone to people from around the world working together to produce the best system possible in regards to performance, quality, cost and time.
However there is also plenty of time outside of meetings to work on the design of components and the system itself!
To find out a bit more about what I do on a daily basis, there is a video on youtube which you can watch featuring me at work! The video was produced for the IET’s Young Woman Engineer of the Year Award 2014 and as well as the video on my work you can also see 4 other young women and what they do as engineers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G3xAHYER90M

I work with a charity called the Smallpeice Trust which look to encourage more young people to consider engineering as a career by giving them a taste of engineering on a residential course held at a UK university.
These courses are interactive, educational and fun, and having taken part in them myself when I was at school I can really recommend them as I believe they are what convinced me to be an engineer!
I would like to use the money to support students to take part in these activities.
