      Is it important to the user? I assume the ‘user’ you mean the people.
      Yes, it is. In order to communicate over the entire world, use internet to view movies on servers in Japan, have a satellite view in Google (and many other examples), then you need a satellite for this purpose.

      Moreover, a lot of scientists use satellite to measure the electromagnetic field of the Earth or measure the amount of trees on the Earth or check the climate of the Earth. There is plenty of usage of satellites.

      In addition, in order for the satellite to work, we need to analyse a single satellite separately. Usually a satellite needs to survive about 15 years in space and the radiation up there is really harsh and all that has to be considered.
