      Hi,
I probably decided when I was about 15 I think. I went on a few engineering taster courses, where you got to do mini projects, speak to real engineers and learn what engineering really involved and was about. This really got me interested and help confirm that it was something I wanted to do, plus I really enjoyed meeting the other people on the courses and being away from home for a few days!

      Hi

I always liked taking bikes to pieces and putting them back together as a kid so decided i wanted to do someting practical. I didn’t really know about all of the options that were open to me as a kid but luckily i lived close to Harwell that at the time did brilliant apprenticeships. Many of the people running and designing formula one cars started off at the same place. I went and looked around the place on an open night when i was 15 and decided that that was what i would do.
I thought that this would be a good start to my career and i was right.

I decided to be an aircraft engineer in the Royal Air Force when I was 15, I knew it would be a great career and I would get great training and see the world, however, I only really realised it was the job for me when I got out onto my first squadron and experienced the job, the people and the lifestyle for myself – I haven’t looked back since so the gamble paid off! This is where I can’t recommend getting work experience enough – if you’re really interested and want to know more about an engineering career it’s the best way to see if it’s for you!

      Hi!

I always had it in my skills, even as a kid when I was looking for solutions to crashes on the news or when building various things using LEGO. I decided when I was doing my A-Levels. It is never too late! 🙂
