Most of what we do isn’t inventing on a day to day basis. We take existing ideas and adapt them to new applications. This means that we already know how reliable something should be without extensive testing.
The skill is in seeing what is required and then working out which solution will work best as there is always more than one way of doing something. Like all things in life we apply the rule KISS (keep it simples stupid) where possible!
If we do have to invent something new to do something then you normally set up a team of epople with relevant skills and brain storm a solution between you and discuss how you will make it work.

Well, my job does not consist of 100% inventing. I am part of the group where we invent solutions. We are working on the project for the customer and if we find that our current design does not meet customer’s requirements, then we are thinking of a solution to overcome it and then it turns out to be an amazing invention.

Therefore, finding an invention is not just looking for something until it drops into my head. It is more kind of ‘encountered a problem -> find a solution -> move on”.

However, I know some great inventors of this world and they spend a lot of time to invent something completely amazing and out of this world, so this is not very simple either.
