I quite like solving problems, so I guess I am relatively patient, and thorough. I have to fully understand something to be convinced about the solution, so I take the time to do things step by step and make sure that every step makes sense.
I think I also like to be creative, and enjoy facing new challenges and require me to think about things in different ways and am generally able to come up with new ideas.
Finally, I like to learn new things, which think is important for being a good engineer, and particularly a research engineer.
I think this varies depending on the role and the person. For me, my creativity, conscientiousness and desire to use my skills to design and make things that can help solve problems like climate change and improve peoples lives. The willingness to always learn more and to adapt to new challenges, as engineering is always depevolping and improving. Also the ability to accept failure and to not be stopped by it. Not every experiment or thing that you design and make will work or will be a big break through, but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t great things to come.
