I can see how they could be used to reduce emissions and improve efficiency BUT are they fully reliable, is the cost affordable and does it harm the environment when we make them?
Also how to people know they are whizzing about as they make hardly no noise!
I was nearly run over by an electric car because I didn’t hear it coming…
I like them in principle, but we need to think more deeply about whether they harm the environment less than normal cars. So they may have less emissions when they drive around, but if the electricity they run on comes from fossil fuels, have you really improved anything? If however the electricity comes from wind power, then that would definitely be an improvement. However, at the end of the day, you have still consumed raw materials to make the car, and batteries are not good for the environment!
Yes I think they’re good news as long as we charge them off a clean electricity supply. I’ve been startled by them on the bike though because they are so quiet! Maybe the answer is to combine it with driverless vehicles so that they become ultra safe too
