Our projects come from the government (Highways England) and they have, over the past year, said that they want Smart Motorways designing.

This involves RADAR detectors to pick up moving traffic, 100% coverage of cctv and specialist signals informing drivers of speed restrictions.

I have had to review all of the new standards to design correctly and make sure that the electronic systems that I place in certain positions actually work!!!

Have a look by putting in on a search engineer Smart Motorways Technology

I have improved my surface modelling – a way of making things in CAD using their outside surfaces, not solids – which has helped me do more detailed style work on some parts I have in development.

I did a course in Human Centred Design with some of my colleagues. This was all about creative ways to think about what people need, and how to have lots of ideas. We’ve been using some of the techniques on new bicycle projects.

I also chose to do an online course in how to do Life Cycle Analysis, which was really interesting and shows you how to calculate all the energy & environmental impact in a product.
