      I would say this could vary as it is not set in stone.

      However I would say a person who is logical, enjoys a challenge but also like to find the root cause of a problem then work out a solution would be a good character to have.

      Patience, because projects can take a long time.
      Curiosity, because you need to look for reasons behind why things work.
      Meticulous/attention to detail, because it is important to get things correct and sometimes projects are so complex that it is difficult for other people to check for your mistakes, you have to be careful.
      That’s only one type of engineer though. I have met some very successful engineers who are really gung-ho and just work out the best way to do things by breaking a lot of stuff.
