When I was in school I knew that I was interested in technology and what I thought engineering was however there wasn’t many practical exercises or examples of the different disciplines available, which may have inspired me to go into a specific sector.
I would like to have several workshops ranging from bridge building to vehicle traffic control systems, chemical engineering, design drawings and electronics. Some of these topics can also embed a programming element within them so an insight into programming and robotics will be a secondary function of the exercises.
I’d work with CycleHack (www.cyclehack.com) to put on a CycleHack event for under-18s, where people spend a day working together experiencing what it is like to design for cycling. The session is run to help show how to come up with design ideas and prototype them whether people have any experience of engineering/design or not
