• Question: Why did you choose to become a bicycle engineer instead of a behavioral economist?

      Well, first up when I was 17 I didn’t even know behavioural economics was a thing, I only started learning about it a couple of years ago.

      Second, because all the things I most like about behavioural economics are things you get to do more of when you’re an engineer. Analysing data, finding insights, understanding people, thinking up clever solutions. But most behavioural economists don’t get to do as much work away from their desks I think, and I like doing things other than writing and IT tasks.

      When I became an engineer I didn’t know I was going to get to do bicycles, but I am so glad that I do. It makes it really fun because I get to work on something that I like doing as a hobby too. I don’t see how that would ever happen with behavioural economics.
