100% – It has made processes simpler and more effective.
Especially in the healthcare industry where engineering has been used to advanced technologies that help to diagnose and aid patients more effectively.
Absolutely, literally everything that you use and own has been engineered in some way. Some more than others. It has meant we can speak to people the other side of the world within seconds through communication. We can even travel round the world in less than a day because of engineering. Just look at things like healthcare, the machines that doctors use to save lives would not be possible without engineering. We all have a small box in our pocket that less than a century ago would have been considered magic, because we can take photos on it, talk to other people thousands of miles away, and find out any information we want in seconds. The world would be a very different place without engineers.
Definitely, it’s because of the developments in engineering we now have faster, quieter aero-engines, rockets and cars. Making travel easier and quicker. Technology to make our lives easier at home with gadgets to control how we run our homes which can also be connected to our mobiles, so we keep an eye an on our homes from a distance.
Absolutely – without engineers, we wouldn’t be able be able to fly on holiday, there wouldn’t be many (if any!) medicines and even the food we eat would be very different. Of course, this has come at a cost, for example, climate change is now a problem because of things like burning fossil fuels to generate energy. However, engineers and scientists will also play a leading role in meeting this challenge!
Definitely – Engineering is a very broad area, and covers almost everything and anything in our daily lives. Everything we buy or use has been designed or manufactured with involvement from an engineer.
