Both! Some parts are easy like running experiments, the hard bit is putting equipment together and trying to understand what the results mean!

It varies a lot. Some days there will be lots of problems and tasks to carry out , other days will just be monitoring the BT sport App. It is very hard when you have to meet deadlines and have a big sporting event upcoming.

It varies, although it can get frustrating at times! If an Engine Owner (someone who looks after a specific engine that is on test), needs a GD (General Development) kit, which is a kit containing engine parts for an engine test urgently. The GD kit process has to complete three updates and two overnight runs for the software to update before the kit can be collected or sent out. I have to find away round to get the kit issued early which means speaking to other sections where the kit may be held up to see if they can get the parts move quicker. Which sometimes is easier said than done!

A bit of both, depending on the projects I am working on. There are some simple things that are normal and repetitive, these are easy. There are also lots of things I find hard because I simply have never come across them before. In a place like STFC there are lots of new things going on, brand new technologies coming along, and it is great to work with cutting edge technology. That is the great part of being an engineer, working through problems to find the solution you need, even if it seems hard!
