      It actually does, the soft robots that I work with and make really depend on the chemical makeup of the materials being used to build them. If I use too much of one of the components the material will never actually cure or too much of the chemical and it will be brittle.
      I am not a chemist at all but I have to have the basic knowledge to understand what happens when I mix the materials I need together to make my robots.
