That’s an interesting question!
I think it’s always been in me somewhere, but I didn’t necessarily recognise it within me. Where I could growing up I did volunteer work, whether that was little bits and pieces in the classroom or as I got older volunteering elsewhere. I first wanted to join the RAF when I was 13 because, whilst I wish there weren’t wars, I wanted to do my bit to protect people and the main role of the RAF is protection and humanitarian work. Then when I got injured and had to change career path, I knew I still wanted to do something that would help people, but using the skills that I had. So I chose biomedical engineering to do just that.
